This weekend my husband and I ventured for the first time all the way down to Victoria to explore the world that is Melbourne. Not wanting to cram too many activities into the brief three day stay we limited our area of exploration to the CBD.
Before I head back to work tomorrow, realising that my mini holiday is now over I wanted to share with you a little snippet of our trip.
One of my favourite things was the MCG tour and National Sports Museum which provided amazing insight into the ground and a rare opportunity to actually walk onto the grass and see the sheds and cricketers viewing area. Definitely on the must do list if you like sport!
Although the choice of restaurants was huge, sometimes you just want fast, tasty food. Enter Lord of the Fries. Not your ordinary takeaway! With a vegan friendly menu this little shop served me my first cheese burger since I have been unable to eat dairy. Mock beef pattie, vegan cheese and the traditional mustard and ketchup combo! While not insta-worthy in looks, this was an amazing burger and brought my attention to the shift in mindset towards making food for different dietary requirements more readily available. Increasingly in seems nothing is off limits – next time I will have to try a vegan cookies and cream milkshake (yes, that exists!).
We stayed at the Mercure Treasury Gardens, located on Spring Street. Great location if you are heading to any sports events, we had a view of the MCG from our room! A little bit of a walk to the restaurants but not too bad and the free city circle tram stops near by which will take you anywhere in the CBD. We loved our room and would definitely stay here again.
So much more we could have done but that leaves something for next time!
Here are a few of the highlights!
Mine is walk around and work out some must do’s for the rest of the trip!
