Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 kilogram approx. pork belly
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Chilli flakes and chopped chives to garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 180°C and prepare the pork belly. Pat the pork belly dry with a paper towel and cut into 1 inch cubes.
  • Place the pork belly pieces in a large mixing bowl with all the spices and toss to coat the pieces. Add in the maple syrup and olive oil and continue to mix until all the pork belly pieces are coated.
  • Lightly spray the basket of your air fryer with cooking oil to prevent sticking and add in a single layer of the pork pieces, ensuring there is a little space around each. The pork will shrink as it cooks. Depending on the size and type of your air fryer, you may need to cook your pork belly bites in batches.
  • Cook the pork belly for 18-20 minutes, shaking the basket twice during cooking time to ensure evening cooking.
  • Once cooked, top with a sprinkle of chilli flakes and chopped chives. Serve with your favourite BBQ sauce for dipping.
