This honey mustard dipping sauce comes together in just 5 minutes and is the perfect accompaniment to chicken nuggets (or other adult food like salads and rice bowls). This super creamy sauce is a little sweet and a little tangy, and whether you want it as a dip or a dressing, it basically just makes everything taste better.

Drizzling honey mustard sauce from a spoon into a bowl.

Honey mustard is having a complete resurgence in my house. How did I forget this simple sauce existed for so long? Now I find myself thinking of what I could make to dip in this sauce because it’s so incredibly good.

It’s creamy and beautifully golden in colour and even better with a crispy chicken tender dunked into it, but also equally as good on a chicken schnitzel burger. However you like to use your sauce, this one is making your food better.

Key Ingredients

You’ll of course need some honey and mustard, along with a few other key ingredients you probably already have on hand to make this delicious, creamy sauce.

All ingredients needed to make honey mustard dipping sauce laid out.

Note all ingredients and their quantities are laid out in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Mayonnaise – use a good, delicious and creamy mayo for this sauce. I realistically am only ever using Heinz mayo.
  • Dijon mustard – I love the tanginess of Dijon but this honey mustard sauce is also good with half Dijon, half wholegrain to give it a milder, earthy taste. So good either way!
  • Honey – wouldn’t be honey mustard without it!
  • White vinegar – just lifts the tang. You could use white wine vinegar instead.
  • Garlic powder – add a little and taste as you go.
  • Salt and pepper – never forget to season your sauce, it makes all the difference!

Yield: this is a small batch recipe made as an addition to a single meal. But if you need more or are a heavy on the sauce kind of person, double it, triple it. Do what you need to do!

Step-By-Step Instructions

There really isn’t much to this recipe. The majority of the time it takes to whip up this easy sauce is going to be gathering the ingredients from the fridge and pantry.

Measure everything out and place it in a bowl. Give it a really good mix, preferably with a cute mini whisk to really get everything combined, but a spoon is fine too.

Make sure to give it a taste test and adjust the seasoning as needed based on your preferences if you like it sweeter vs tangy-er. That’s it! It’s now ready for dipping, drizzling or slathering.

How to use honey mustard

Of course there are SO MANY uses for this honey mustard sauce including drizzling over rice bowls or salads, but my favourite has to be dunking crispy crumbed chicken things in it. Try one of these;

  • Air fryer chicken tenders
  • Air fryer chicken nuggets
  • Air fryer tofu nuggets
  • Air fryer chicken schnitzel
  • Oven baked potato wedges
  • Roasted vegetable bowls – swap for the green goddess sauce
  • Air fryer steak
